Southern Miss Senior Jackson Receives Prestigious Scholarship

Wilton Jackson, a senior broadcast journalism major at The University of Southern Mississippi, was recognized with the Thomas Arkle Clark Scholar-Leader-of-the-Year Endowed Scholarship for exemplifying the ideals of Phi Eta Sigma.

Jackson is the first Southern Miss student selected for the $10,000 award.

“I asked my mother when she called to inform me that I received it, ‘you sure it was meant for me?' ” Jackson said. “She said, ‘yes, it has your name on it, Wilton C. Jackson, II.' ”

Scholarship criteria include: involvement in Phi Eta Sigma, participation in other service and leadership organizations and projects, creative ability and plans to continue his education.

Jackson is the son of Wilton and Jacqueline Jackson of Jackson, Miss.
