Southern Miss Set to Launch New Athletics Logo

The Southern Miss Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the successful completion of the trademarking and registering process for the new Southern Miss Golden Eagle logo.  

The new Golden Eagle logo has officially gained trademark status by the United States Patent and Trademarking Office (USPTO). The logo process has taken over a year to complete and was spearheaded by Southern Miss alum Rodney Richardson, and his company Rare Design, as they assisted with the creation and development of the new logo and brand identity.

Rare Design is recognized for being an industry leader in logo and brand design and has worked with numerous different universities and professional teams including the New Orleans Pelicans, Florida State Seminoles, Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies. 

Merchandise and apparel featuring the new Golden Eagle logo will be officially available for purchase beginning Wednesday, July 15. In celebration of the logo release, Southern Miss Athletics, in conjunction with Barnes and Noble, will be hosting a launch party on the University's Hattiesburg campus. The Barnes and Noble location at the Gulf Park Campus will also have merchandise featuring the new logo and will have several promotions and discounts as well.

The store hours for both on-campus stores that day will be extended to 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and shoppers will have the opportunity to win great raffle prizes during business hours, including sideline passes to a select home game, gift cards to Barnes and Noble as well as a variety of other prizes. Shoppers visiting that day also receive a 25 percent off coupon to be used on items featuring the new logo.

The Barnes and Noble launch party on the Hattiesburg campus is set from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and includes an appearance from Seymour, members of the Southern Miss cheerleaders, coaches and staff. The first 200 fans will receive a free tote bag courtesy of Barnes and Noble and which features the new logo.

Also fans will have an opportunity to purchase merchandise with the new logo at the 32nd Annual Jackson All Star Party (July 16), the 17th Annual Gulf Coast Beach Bash (July 24) and the 20th Annual Eagle Fan Fare (August 15). 

While July 15 is the first official day fans can purchase items featuring the new Golden Eagle logo, merchandise will continue to become available throughout the summer and into the fall football season.
