The Office of Student Activities at The University of Southern Mississippi has organized the inaugural Student Leadership Summit to teach students practical tips and tools to enhance their leadership skills.

The daylong conference will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 on the third floor of the Thad Cochran Center on the Hattiesburg campus. The event will feature sessions driven toward leadership skills, communication skills, diversity and multiculturalism and overall student wellbeing.

Students may apply for the conference until Jan. 21. Approximately 150 applicants will be selected to attend.

“We believe these learned skills are important to students overall growth and development while in school and will ultimately help them succeed post-graduation,” said Emily Holmes, assistant director for programs.

Thirteen session proposals were selected in October 2014 from faculty, staff and graduate student submissions across campus.
