Lighting the Way returns for the holiday season Dec. 2 at the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus.

The University of Southern Mississippi will ring in the holiday season Wednesday, Dec. 2 with its annual Lighting the Way event on the Hattiesburg campus. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. on the south lawn of the Aubrey K. Lucas Administration Building, and members of the University and local communities are invited.

Lighting the Way is a philanthropic event presented by the University's Student Government Association (SGA) that includes musical performances, lighting of the Southern Miss Christmas tree, and a variety of fun activities for the whole family.

This year, the SGA will sell lanterns to support Homes of Hope for Children in conjunction with the event. The mission of Homes of Hope for Children is to serve children in crisis throughout Mississippi by providing them strong, Christian homes, ensuring they are loved unconditionally and have their physical, spiritual and emotional needs met.

For more information about Lighting the Way or to support SGA's efforts to assist Homes of Hope for Children, call the SGA at 601.266.4407 or e-mail sga@usm.edu; or contact the Dean of Students Office at 601.266.6028.
