Karnes Center for Gifted Studies Hosting Summer Programs

The Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi is hosting a variety of programs for academically talented and gifted youth this summer on the Hattiesburg campus, attracting students from across the state and nation. Established in 1979, the Center furthers the education of gifted students and those with leadership abilities through teaching, research and services. 

The schedule of programming is as follows:

*June 14-17: NEW Day Program for Young Gifted. All classes will be held in the J. B. George Building from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with 60 students participating.

*June 19-24: Summer Gifted Studies Program, with classes held in various locations on the Hattiesburg campus. A highlight for this summer will be a robotics classes. Classes are from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. with 120 students participating.

*June 26-July 15: Academically Talented Youth Program, with classes held in various locations on the Hattiesburg campus and 50 students participating.
