Research Conference to Focus on Creating Better Mississippi

University Research Center (URC) is hosting its first “Advancing Mississippi: Research for a Better Mississippi for More Mississippians” Conference on Thursday, June 9th in Jackson. Researchers from across the state will present papers that address the systemic challenges that Mississippi faces.

The goal of the conference is to uncover productive ways to overcome challenges and foster growth in Mississippi, while creating better economic conditions for all Mississippians.

The University of Southern Mississippi will have two groups of faculty members/students delivering presentations during the conference:

  • James Moore, clinical assistant professor of psychology, will be joined by students – Meleah Ackley, Shawn K. Bishop, and BreAnna Newborne to present “Barriers and Solutions: Helping Individuals with Autism by Meeting the Demand for Behavior Analysts in Mississippi.”
  • Laura Richard, assistant professor of social work, and Kathryn Rehner, project director in the College of Health Dean's Office, will present “Transforming Lives Through Health Insurance Outreach and Enrollment.”
