Southern Miss Faculty Members Awarded Proposal Development Grants

Dr. Gordon Cannon, Vice President for Research at The University of Southern Mississippi, has announced the awarding of nine Proposal Development Grants for 2016.
This internal grant program is for Southern Miss faculty, to facilitate the planning, writing and submission of extramural proposals to support research and scholarly activities. Grants of $2,000 were awarded to cover the costs of any activity, travel expense or commodity that aids faculty members in preparing and submitting extramural proposals.
“USM provided support to these faculty after they successfully competed against their peers for it. By accepting the funding, these faculty are committed to completing the work described in their application and developing grant applications based upon that work. The funds are a sound investment in the development of these faculty members' competitiveness for external research funding,” said Cannon.

- Daniel Credeur, School of Kinesiology -- “Cardio-Metabolic Responses to Acute Hyperglycemia in Persons with Spinal Cord Injury Compared to Able-Bodied Controls”
- Beth Bryant-Claxton, Institute for Disability Studies; James W. Moore, Department of Psychology; Keith Radley, Department of Psychology -- “Enhancing Social Skills Opportunities for Mississippi Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders”
- Ann E. Blankenship, Department of Educational Leadership and School Counseling; James T. Fox, Department of Educational Leadership & School Counseling; Myron Labat, Department of Educational Leadership & School Counseling; David Lee, Department of Educational Leadership & School Counseling -- “Strengthening Local School Systems through Cutting-Edge Mini-Institutes”
