The annual “Lighting the Way” event returns Wednesday, Nov. 30 to The University of Southern Mississippi to help usher in the holiday season and support the charitable outreach work of Hattiesburg's Aldersgate Mission and Edwards Street Fellowship Center. Scheduled for 6-8 p.m. at the front entrance of the Hattiesburg campus, it will be presented by the Student Government Association, and members of the university and local communities are invited to participate.

“Lighting the Way” will include a canned food drive for the Edwards Street Fellowship Center, lighting of the USM Christmas tree, musical performances by the Aldersgate Children's Choir, refreshments and an opportunity to get a photo with Santa Claus, among other family-friendly activities.

“Lighting the Way is one of my favorite Southern Miss traditions,” said SGA President Caroline Bradley. “Through this event, SGA allows the greater Hattiesburg community and the student body to ring in the Christmas season together.”
