Throughout the month of October, local radio station SuperTalk Hattiesburg will host an online silent auction at www.supertalkhattiesburg.com to benefit The Children's Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The Children's Center is located on The University of Southern Mississippi's Hattiesburg campus, and provides therapy services to children, birth to age five, with complex communication and developmental disabilities.

“After reaching out to the Center to gauge their interest in the auction, they invited us over for a tour,” said Jill Deakle, SuperTalk Hattiesburg's account manager and marketing director. “We knew immediately it was a good match and we are excited to choose them as the beneficiary for this endeavor.”

SuperTalk Hattiesburg has labeled October as its inaugural “Month of Giving,” and the silent auction is only one way radio is giving back to local area nonprofits this month. Time and resources invested in this project were made possible by business leaders in the Pine Belt.

Deakle describes the generosity of the business community to be top notch. “Every one we've contacted has been willing to provide something to the cause, and we are excited to see how the community responds to a great list of auction items.”

Items up for bid include Southern Miss football game tickets, packages of gift cards for local eateries in the Pine Belt, signed sports memorabilia, artwork from local artists, retail items from local businesses, and much more.

“We are never surprised by the generosity of our business community and media partners; but, we are always grateful,” said Sarah Case-Price, director of The Children's Center. “It's very hard to do what we do without them, and we are thankful SuperTalk Hattiesburg chose us for this special benefit!”

The auction will run through Friday, October 28 and can be access via www.supertalkhattiesburg.com. For more information, call 601-266-4742.
