Target of Hattiesburg has partnered with The University of Southern Mississippi Physical Plant to extend its relief supplies collection drive for victims of flooding in southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi.

More than 60,000 homes in the affected area have been damaged or destroyed, along with 13 fatalities. In Crosby, Miss. which is located on the border of Amite and Wilkinson Counties, 95 percent of homes were flooded.

Donations will be accepted until Sept. 16 at the Target store at 6143 U.S. Highway 98 and at the USM Physical Plant office, located next to the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office across from the University's parking garage.

The relief supplies drive was launched by the Physical Plant two weeks ago, with requests for the following donations:

*For people: bottled water; non-perishable food items; toilet paper; paper towels; toiletries (soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, etc.); diapers and wipes; feminine hygiene products; new towels/washcloths.

*For pets: pet food; shampoo; leashes; cat litter.

*For cleaning: rags/wipes; bleach; detergent; gloves; mops; any other general cleaning supplies.

Target will give all students in grades K-12 and in college a free bag of popcorn for donations that include 10 or more items.
