The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi has invited two successful CEOs to offer their insights about leadership as part of the Inspired Leaders series which kicks off at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 in Scianna Hall's McDonnell Auditorium.

The series, which is free and open to the public, will begin with presentations from Rich Pascoe, CEO of Apricus Biosciences and Patrick Daly, CEO of Cohera Medical Inc.

“The Inspired Leaders series provides our community with an opportunity to meet five CEOs this year and to introduce them to USM and the Pine Belt,” said Dr. Faye Gilbert, dean of the College of Business. “Each CEO will share with us ways they inspire their companies, as well as the things that inspire them in their leadership.”

Pascoe has served as CEO of Apricus Biosciences Inc. since 2013, following the merger of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals with Pernix. Since 2008, he has been the CEO of Somaxon where he is responsible for FDA approval of Somaxon's lead drug, Silenor®.  Pascoe has held a series of senior management roles in the pharmaceutical industry, serving in marketing, sales, international and hospital sales. He served as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division following his graduation from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He is a major proponent of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, a 501(c)(3) committed to helping veterans and their families through education.

Daly, founded Cohera Medical Inc., in January 2006 and acquired more than $125 million in capital from investors to facilitate its two lead products: TissuGlu® Surgical Adhesive and Sylys® Surgical Sealant through the FDA approval process for commercialization in the U.S. and Europe. Cohera Medical Inc. has more than 70 patents issued and pending, and Daly holds a patent for the surgical sealant technology. Daly is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served on active duty in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer. One of his board memberships is for the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund.
