The longest-running Greek Life philanthropic event at The University of Southern Mississippi and a local holiday season favorite will be held Friday, Nov. 17 from 5-7:30 p.m. when USM's Epsilon Delta chapter of Chi Omega Sorority hosts Songfest at Reed Green Coliseum on the Hattiesburg campus.

Admission to Songfest is free, but donations in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi will be accepted at the door to meet the organization and event's goal of granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. A silent auction will also be held in conjunction with the event, with items donated by businesses, organizations and individuals to raise funds for the Foundation.

Anna Katherine Peel, a senior elementary education major from Madison, Miss. who is director of Songfest, said she's looking forward to a large turnout for the event and hopes those in attendance take time to meet some of the Make-A-Wish beneficiaries.

“I hope everyone who enjoys holiday music and supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi will join us Friday to kick off the Christmas season,” Peel said. “This is an incredible event that brings the USM and Hattiesburg communities together for a great cause. The Make-A-Wish Foundation provides hope in the darkest of times by granting a wish to a child, and it has been an honor for our chapter to serve such an incredible organization.”
