DuBard School Establishes Little Free Library

Children at the DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi celebrated as a Little Free Library was placed in front of the school, bringing free books to individuals of all ages and reading levels, including those with language disorders.

This free, public book exchange was made possible by Phi Kappa Phi at The University of Southern Mississippi, through a grant which was received under the leadership of Phi Kappa Phi's Cristin Reynolds, president, and Dr. Eric Platt, faculty board president.

"I am a strong supporter of fostering the love of learning,” said Reynolds. “Working with Dr. Platt in securing a Little Free Library for the DuBard School has allowed me to take an active role in helping to nurture the love of learning through reading. This has been a meaningful project that I hope to see many take advantage of -- especially the wonderful children at the DuBard School. "

“We are excited to offer this resource to our students and their families and are immensely grateful to Ms. Reynolds and Dr. Platt for facilitating this grant,” said DuBard School Director, Dr. Maureen Martin. “The Little Free Library is a great way to promote literacy and the love of reading.”

The Little Free Library is located at the main entrance of the DuBard School for Language Disorders at the corner of Kay James Drive and Montague Street at The University of Southern Mississippi. DuBard School students, university students and members of the public are welcome to take a new or gently used book in exchange for another one.
