The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies currently has grant funds available statewide for people with disabilities and their families interested in becoming homeowners. A community grant workshop will be held Friday, November 10, from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Bountiful Blessings Community Room at 2363 Carrollton Road in Grenada.

The workshop will explain requirement for obtaining up to $22,000 in down payment grant assistance for families of individuals with disabilities.

“Mississippi Home Corporation has awarded $900,000 to the Mississippi Home of Your Own (HOYO) program to be used across the next two years, so funds are available now across the state, including all areas of the Delta for eligible families,” said Cassie Hicks, IDS Director of Housing. The upcoming free community workshop in Grenada will provide consumers and housing providers with an overview of the HOYO program and program requirements for eligibility.

The Institute for Disability Studies, Mississippi's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), has been headquartered at The University of Southern Mississippi for more than 40 years.
