The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi has partnered with clothing retailers Talbots and Jos. A. Bank on a new initiative called the Eagle Suit Fund. The fund is sponsored by a generous alumnus of the University.

“Our alumni and friends are our catalyst for lasting changes. Initiatives like this will help our students take their first successful step into their professional lives,” said Dr. Faye Gilbert, Dean of the USM College of Business.”

The fund will allow deserving students the opportunity to receive a business suit. For many, it may be their first suit. Students will be selected through an application process and will then be directed to either Jos. A. Bank or Talbots to be fitted for a suit and receive coaching on how to dress properly for an interview, how to purchase a suit that fits and tips on selecting and caring for a suit that can be worn for years.

Students will also be asked to attend additional career development sessions such as a resume writing workshop, mock interview session, career fairs and more. Students will be selected via an application process.

Talbots has taken the partnership to the next level and is sponsoring a FASHIONABLE FUNdraiser event on Friday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at its Hattiesburg location. On this date, 10 percent of all purchases will be donated to help Southern Miss College of Business students through the Eagle Suit Fund. If you can't make the event, you can call and place your order at 601.261.5353.
