Southern Miss Graduate Elliott Named Phi Kappa Phi Fellow
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi — the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines — has named University of Southern Mississippi graduate Ariel Elliott a Phi Kappa Phi Fellow, awarding her $5,000 toward the first year of graduate or professional study.
Phi Kappa Phi currently awards six fellowships of $15,000 each and 51 fellowships of $5,000. USM has had nine fellowship recipients in the past decade, including a seven-year streak from 2009 to 2015.

Grant Program Enables USM Nursing Faculty, Students to Help Underserved Patients
A grant made possible through the Asbury Foundation Distinguished Professor in Nursing fund is helping University of Southern Mississippi nursing faculty and students provide healthcare to an under-served area of Hattiesburg. Elizabeth Tinnon, assistant professor in the USM College of Nursing, along with several nursing students are lending assistance to the Fellowship Health Clinic (FHC), located on Edwards Street in southeast Hattiesburg.
