The 2018 AIM Awards, presented by the Arts Institute of Mississippi (AIM) at The University of Southern Mississippi, seek to recognize and honor outstanding high school level arts teachers and organizations throughout the state of Mississippi.

Nominees may be teachers, schools, or organizations, who have made noteworthy contributions that enhance education in, and through the arts.

“These awards were established to salute the accomplishments of high school level arts teachers and organizations,” said Dr. Jay Dean, executive director of AIM. “The intention is to not only serve as an incentive for the continued pursuit of excellence, but to recognize the talent found throughout our state and honor those who are making an impact through exemplary achievements in arts education,” he added.

The AIM Awards encourage the nomination of individuals who teach students or direct organizations, including bands, orchestras, concert choirs, show choirs, dance studios, etc.; schools, or organizations in the high school level performing outstanding work in the arts, including creative writing, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.

The judges will select recipients, from each discipline, who best meet the following criteria: excellence in arts education; extent to which this individual or organization has had a profound and enduring effect on arts education; and the extent to which this individual's or organization's work enhance(s) the school's and/or community's image.

Nominations must be submitted by February 28, 2018. Judges will evaluate the materials submitted and notify the recipients by March 30, 2018. For more information and nomination guidelines please visit usm.edu/arts/aim-awards.
