Johnson Controls Charity Walk Benefits USMs Childrens Center

There can be no denying that Johnson Controls is a big company. Big, as in 2,000 worldwide locations and 120,000 worldwide employees. But to step on the campus at Johnson Controls' location in Hattiesburg, Miss., you might have a different perspective. They may be global, and their reach broad, but the feeling on campus is that of a friendly local business.

The Children's Center for Communication and Development at USM can certainly attest to the company's generosity, after receiving a check for $1,460 on May 10, from funds raised during Johnson Controls' bi-annual charity walk.

“This is the fourth year that we have organized this charity walk, and we're so happy to be honoring The Children's Center this year,” said Scott Dumas, Human Resource Manager at Johnson Controls in Hattiesburg. “We look forward to this event every year, as it gives us a chance to come together as a team and do something to help deserving organizations in our community like The Children's Center at USM. Giving back is a big part of our mission at Johnson Controls and this is a fun, rewarding way to do just that.”

Sarah Case-Price, director at The Children's Center, remarked that gifts like these are the lifeblood of the organization.

“As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community. It is because of businesses like Johnson Controls, who recognize the importance of the work that we do, and make the choice to help in any way they can, that we are able to keep offering cost-free services to infants and children with complex disabilities in Southern Mississippi,” said Case-Price. “We can't express our gratitude for Mr. Dumas and his team, and their generous contribution to The Children's Center.”
