USM Connoisseur Series presents Brentano Quartet on Oct. 26

The University of Southern Mississippi Connoisseur series presents Brentano String Quartet on Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. Earlier in the day masterclasses will be presented at various locations.

This all-day event is free and is open for all to attend. The recital is presented in part by the generous support of Partners for the Arts and by the grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

From 8:30-10:30 a.m. there will be violin, viola, and cello master classes given in Marsh, FAB 114A, and FAB 114C respectively. At 10:30-12:30 p.m. there will be the chamber music master class located in Marsh. Concluding the event will be the Brentano Quartet recital at 6 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium.

The London Independent has raved about the Brentano String Quartet, calling it, “Passionate, uninhibited, and spellbinding.”

Since its inception in 1992, this ensemble has appeared at the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York; the Library of Congress in Washington; the Cocertgebouw in Amsterdam; the Konzerthaus in Vienna; Suntory Hall in Tokyo; and the Sydney Opera House. The Brentano Quartet is currently in residence at the Yale School of Music.
