Keyes Named University of Southern Mississippi Police Chief of Operations
Rusty Keyes, Assistant Chief of Operations for The University of Southern Mississippi (USM)'s Police Department (UPD), has been appointed incoming chief, effective July 1. Keyes will succeed current Chief Bob Hopkins, who is set to retire June 30 after nearly two decades of outstanding service in the role.
Keyes has been a law enforcement officer for nearly 30 years, first serving the Hattiesburg Police Department as a patrolman, narcotics officer, street crimes officer, detective, and as a detectives and patrol supervisor.

Psychology Undergraduate, Faculty Mentor Earn Research Grant
Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology and one of the largest honor societies in the U.S., has awarded a competitive grant to a University of Southern Mississippi (USM) undergraduate psychology student and her faculty mentor.

The University of Southern Mississippi's Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families will be holding its 5thAnnual Spring Fling today from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., with a small awards ceremony set for 1 p.m. The event is held to honor the University's student-veterans and pay tribute to the center's supporters in the Hattiesburg area.
