Religion in Mississippi focus of Special Collections Exhibit

Religion's impact on the culture of Mississippi and the everyday lives of its citizens can be viewed in a new exhibit at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) that draws from material found in its University Libraries' Special Collections. 

“Now Preaching in Your City”: Religion in Mississippi was assembled by members of the Special Collections staff, and includes a spotlight on the stories of not-so famous ministers and faith communities throughout the Magnolia State.

Two USM Schools Partner on Unique Sales Course

The School of Marketing and the School of Performing and Visual Arts at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) have partnered to offer a unique experience for a diverse group of students looking to practice their skills. Dr. Chris Balaski, professor of sales, and Dr. Monica Hayes, professor of theatre, oversee the initiative.

Southern Miss nursing students have access to some of the most advanced patient simulators on the market. The newest simulator replicates certain aspects of human physiology, preparing students in the nursing program for clinical practice experiences. For example, students studying the impact of cardiac disease can hear and feel how this disease affects a patient's heart sounds, lung sounds and cardiac pulses.
