Dale Center Fellow Heather Stur to give Blount Lecture in Military History May 1

Dr. Heather Stur, an associate professor of history and fellow in The University of Southern Mississippi's (USM) Dale Center for the Study of War and Society, will deliver a lecture as the outgoing General Buford "Buff" Blount Professor in Military History on Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. in room 101 of the Liberal Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus.

Dr. Stur's presentation, titled Saigon at War: South Vietnam and the Global Sixties will be drawn from her forthcoming book of the same name. She will discuss South Vietnamese political perspectives on the Vietnam War in an effort to incorporate South Vietnamese voices more fully into the Vietnam War narrative.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Mississippi Southern Chorale present the final concert of the 2018-19 season, “Music of the Night,” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. This is an encore performance of part of the program from New York City's Carnegie Hall the previous week. Move to Learn Team to Visit USM's DuBard School

Coach Larry Calhoun, the star of the Move to Learn exercise break videos, will make an appearance at The University of Southern Mississippi's DuBard School for Language Disorders on May 7 to introduce administrators, teachers and students to the Move to Learn Initiative. A team from the Bower Foundation and the Mississippi Department of Education's Office of Healthy Schools will accompany Calhoun in a live demonstration of the Move to Learn videos.
