USM's Annual Student Show Set for March 21 through April 4

The University of Southern Mississippi Art & Design program will exhibit its Annual Student Show from March 21 through April 4 in the Gallery of Art & Design, George Hurst Building on the Hattiesburg campus. An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 21 at 5 p.m.

Various art mediums will be displayed such as drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, typography, and digital photography.

City of Hattiesburg Administrator Ladner Keynote Speaker for School of Education Spring Retreat

Dr. Greg Ladner, a longtime Mississippi educator now serving as a special assistant to Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker, emphasized the need for schools to better prepare their students for the labor market when he spoke at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Education's spring retreat March 8.

The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies is holding a week-long Alternative Spring Break training event for youth and young adults with disabilities on the Hattiesburg campus. The training sessions are held daily from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily. The Alternative Spring Break is provided by the ToTAL project, a work-based training and internship program for teens and young adults with disabilities ages 14 to 21.
