USM Ready to Host Robotics State Championship March 1-2

More than 700 young innovators from across the state will converge at The University of Southern Mississippi March 1-2 for the annual Mississippi VEX Robotics State Championship.

The competition will showcase elementary, middle and high school students from approximately 50 Mississippi schools in an educational competitive robotics program to be held at USM's Payne Center on the Hattiesburg campus.

USM Students Volunteering to Serve Local Communities during 9th annual “Big Event”

University of Southern Mississippi students in Hattiesburg and at the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach will serve a cause bigger than themselves through “The Big Event” Saturday, Feb. 23 when they assist community agencies, schools and charities with a variety of service initiatives.

More than 800 scientists and students from across the state will convene at The University of Southern Mississippi's Thad Cochran Center on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 21-22 for the 83rd Annual Mississippi Academy of Sciences Meeting. The event will feature approximately 200 poster presentations and an expected 300 oral presentations in many fields of science by professors, researchers, and students.
