USM's Nurse Anesthesia Program Sees Pattern of Exceptional Growth

Seven years after its inception, the Nurse Anesthesia Program at The University of Southern Mississippi has grown into one of the institution's premier professional healthcare training regimens.

The prestigious program, administered through USM's College of Nursing and Health Professions, was launched in January, 2013 with 20 students. Currently, there are 60 students enrolled, which represents full capacity.

USM School of Psychology Hosting “Out of the Darkness” Suicide Awareness Campus Walk April 13

Members of The University of Southern Mississippi family and local residents will step forward April 13 in a show of love and remembrance for those who have taken their own life, or in support of individuals suffering with mental illness or addiction, at the “Out of the Darkness” walk to be held at the Thad Cochran 5K Trail on the Hattiesburg campus. Supported by the USM School of Psychology, the event begins with on-site registration at 8 a.m.; the walk starts at 9 a.m.

The number of deaths from alcohol, drugs and suicide in 2017 hit the highest level since federal data collection started in 1999, according to an analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released Monday by two public health nonprofits. The University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble presents its Concerto Concert on Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mannoni Performing Arts Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
