Office of Leadership and Student Involvement holds annual Awards Ceremony

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Office of Leadership and Student Involvement recently recognized and celebrated the accomplishments of approximately 200 USM student organizations at the Student Organization Awards and Recognition (SOAR) ceremony, held April 23 at the Thad Cochran Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
More than 100 nominations were collected, and a review committee determined the winners. The following awards were presented for the 2018-2019 school year:
Outstanding New Student Organization: Eagle Ambassadors
Emerging Leader Award: Jourdan Green, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Community Builder: Cameron Cloud, Student Government Association
Outstanding Student Organization Advisor: Keltoum Rowland, L'Association Française
Outstanding Student Organization Member: Erin Crater, Honors College Leadership Council
Outstanding Student Organization Officer: Tiara Watson, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Outstanding Student Organization President: Selma Newbill, Sexual Assault Prevention Ambassadors
Outstanding Student Organization of the Year: Queens Uplifted
Leadership and Student Involvement Hall of Fame Inductee: Christy Arrazattee, Center for Community Engagement
