The Spring Dance Concert will be held March 28 and 29 on USM's Hattiesburg campus.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Repertory Dance Company presents its first Spring Dance Concert on March 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. in Studio 115 of the Theatre and Dance Building on the Hattiesburg campus.

The Spring Dance Concert will feature new works choreographed by USM Dance Program students and faculty. This will be an inspiring evening of contemporary dance in an intimate setting that is a great chance to see dance up close and personal.

These performances are part one of the two dance concerts for the spring semester. Each of these concerts will provide the audience with completely different experiences and styles.

“Both the meaning of the dance as well as my artistic voice are being divulged throughout this creative process,” said junior dance major Casey Collier. “I was inspired by Ohad Naharin's process where he creates movement first and meaning later.”

“An article by John Jasperse said, ‘We are constantly reforming the articulations between one body and another.',” said junior dance major Tarrah Mills. “This allowed me to dig deeper into my piece The Slower We Fall, the More Likely We Are Caught.”

The USM Repertory Dance Company was established to provide performing opportunities for dance majors and to promote excellence in dance performance for our students. As company members, students gain insight into the protocol and standards of professional dance as they prepare for careers.

Price of admission is $15 for the general public; $10 for faculty, staff, seniors, and military; and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the door.
