Social Science and Global Studies, Center for Black Studies to host Screening of Talking Black in America documentary April 9

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Social Science and Global Studies and the USM Center for Black Studies will hold a screening of "Talking Black in America" Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Gonzales Auditorium (room 108) of the Liberal Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus. This event is free and open to the public.

According to the film's website, “Talking Black in America,” which was filmed across the U.S., examines how communication in the African-American community “expresses the creativity and resilience of a people living through oppression, segregation and the fight for equality, and the powerful identity forged by a shared heritage” and “chronicles the incredible impact of African American English on American language and culture.”

A sign-in sheet will be provided at the screening for students eligible to earn extra credit for attendance.
