USM, JCPenney Partnering for Suit-Up Events in Hattiesburg, Biloxi

University of Southern Mississippi students have a special opportunity to elevate their professional attire at discounted savings during the “Suit-Up Event” sponsored by JCPenney.

There will be two chances for students to participate – Monday, March 18 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the JCPenney store at Edgewater Plaza in Biloxi and Sunday, March 26 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at JCPenney in Hattiesburg's Turtle Creek Mall. Although JC Penney normally closes at 6 p.m. on Sunday, the store is re-opening its doors to USM students exclusively for this unique occasion.

Students will receive an extra 40 percent off men's and women's career dress apparel, accessories, and shoes, even items already on sale. Students will need to show their University ID card to receive the special discount.

“Students can benefit from the event by freshening up their wardrobe in preparation for interviews, internships, and beginning their professional career positions,” said Kathy Killam, assistant director of Career Services at USM. “There will be Southern Miss faculty and staff, along with JCPenney staff, to aid students in measuring, and selection of the professional pieces to add to their wardrobe.”

Prizes will be given away throughout the evening. Sephora will be providing mini makeovers and the salon will offer free consultations and discount coupons for future visits. 

Students can register for the event through Handshake. Upon doing so, they will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $100 Gift Card.
