USM Set to Host Camp for Wheelchair Users July 7-11

The University of Southern Mississippi will host its first Hackability.camp on July 7-11, an interactive week of training sessions designed for wheelchair users in high school who are interested in technology.
The residential camp on USM's Hattiesburg campus, will provide opportunities to learn more about coding, designing, and working with computers in general. In addition, participants can find out what college majors and careers best suit wheelchair enhanced mobility.
“This camp will give high schoolers the unique opportunity for both personal and college/career development,” said USM math Professor Anna Wan, who is serving as the camp's director. “Campers and their assistants will stay in Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved dorms at USM, attend sessions led by wheelchair users and learn about independent living from local and national speakers.”

- Hacking your wheelchair
- Create your own webpage
- Robotics
- Computer Aided Design for 2D creations
- Computer Aided Design for 3D creations
- Living Independently
- College and careers
