The 86th Mississippi Academy of Sciences (MAS) annual meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday (March 31 – April 1) at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center in Biloxi will include presentations by University of Southern Mississippi (USM) students and faculty members.

MS INBRE (Mississippi IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence), under the leadership of USM’s Dr. Alex Flynt, is the major sponsor for the meeting. One of the highlights of the meeting is the MS INBRE Graduate/Post Graduate Scholars Symposium, where top student research presenters compete for prizes.

Along with several USM students scheduled to give research presentations, guest speakers from the USM faculty include Dr. Jennifer Lemacks, Dr. Alyson Brink, Dr. Julie Pigza, and Dr. Greg Carter. In addition, USM faculty members Dr. Paula Smithka and Dr. Ramakalavathi Marapareddy are serving in leadership roles for the MAS as division vice-chairs. More than 500 presentations will be given at this event.

More details and the meeting program can be found in the current abstract issue of the Journal of the Mississippi Academy of Sciences at the following link: https://msacad.org/current-abstract.
