Artist registration for this event is limited
The USM Iron Pour is a multi-day event for artists who have intermediate or advanced experience with resin sand molding. This is not a workshop. Although there will be knowledgeable and helpful mold makers in house, you must have prior knowledge of how to make a large two-part resin sand mold. Once we get your registration, we will contact you with specifics.
Participants are expected to bring their molds to the 3D arts building in advance of the Iron Pour (Saturday, Nov. 22 at 9:00 AM CT).
- If you are just bringing a small mold, you are welcome to come starting Friday, as we have a big BBQ and give-away that evening. Shell space is limited--contact Jen, at sculpture@usm.edu
- If you wish to make a small mold (up to 100- 300 lbs resin sand total) you should plan on coming Thursday morning with patterns ready to go.
- If you wish to make a large mold you must be ready with a complete pattern on Wednesday morning at 9:00 am to start working. Large molds must be max 900 lbs per side and must include internal pipe and rebar reinforcement. You should also plan on bringing helpers to make your large mold.
