Advisement Myths

MYTH "I have to pay my balance or clear my holds before I can be advised."	FACT All students planning to attend the upcoming semester should be advised as early as possible.
MYTH "I am not sure about  my plans or major  so I should not go  to advisement."	FACT Advisors will support you during the decision making process and refer you to USM offices that can help! Going to advisement can help you know your options.
MYTH "I already know what classes I want to take so I don’t need  to be advised."	FACT All students must be advised every semester at USM. This is a time for advisors to check on student progress and to discuss successes, areas with room for improvement, and plans for graduation!
