In fiscal year 2025, the combined effects of university operations, student and visitor spending, capital investment, and the long-term earnings gains associated with Southern Miss alumni generated a massive economic footprint across the state. Beyond the secondary jobs supported through its supply chain, USM provides a stable foundation for the regional economy as a major employer, directly providing high-quality careers for 4,469 faculty and staff.
