Required Contact Minutes for each Meeting Pattern (All terms)

To comply with the Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) minimum required contact minutes of 2250 for a 3 hour course, the University of Southern Mississippi has established the following meeting patterns for the following terms:

Fall/Spring Full Term/Session I and II
MWF 41 meetings at 60 minutes each
MW 28 meetings at 75 Minutes each
TT 28 meetings at 75 Minutes each
Session I and II 14 meetings at 165 Minutes each
Summer Full Term/Session I and II
MWF 26 meetings at 90 Minutes each
MW 18 meetings at 130 Minutes each
TT 18 meetings at 130 Minutes each
Session I and II 22 meetings at 105 Minutes each
Intersession
M-F 13 meetings at 180 minutes each

Classes scheduled that do not meet a standard meeting pattern will be monitored. If a Department needs to offer a class through a meeting pattern that is not approved, the administrator needs to request the course(s) be considered an exception by sending a memo through the Dean of the College to the Provost with details of the need to schedule ‘off grid’. Documentation of the exception along with the specific course(s) impacted must be included in the request.
