What is a transcript?

An official transcript is the reproduction of a complete, unabridged permanent academic record validated with the University seal, facsimile signature of the registrar, and date of issue. A key to the transcript is included, which contains a full statement of pertinent definitions.

Transcripts are not released when there is a financial hold on student account.

Please be advised:  A one-time 14-day grace period is given to resolve holds preventing the processing of a transcript.  After 14-days, transcript requests with unresolved holds will be canceled and the request must be resubmitted once the hold is resolved.

Requesting a Transcript

  • Currently Active Students: Request a transcript through your SOAR account by navigating to: Student Dashboard > Academics > Order Official Transcript 
  • Former or Inactive Students: Request a transcript online: 

Southern Miss Alumni Graduate Applicants

  • Southern Miss alumni applying to Graduate School at The University of Southern Mississippi DO NOT need to request a transcript online at
  • Contact the Graduate School for transcript processing. Graduate students proceeding through Transcripts Plus will be charged and the fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Transcript: $10.00 per transcript (non-refundable), payable by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.  Additional delivery charges may apply. See options below.  

Delivery Options


  • FedEx overnight charge through Parchment Transcript Service: $40.00 (within the United States), PLUS $10 per transcript charge.
  • FedEx orders containing attachments are subject to longer processing times, and your transcript may take longer to deliver.
  • Students needing overnight delivery must submit the transcript request by 12:00 p.m. in order for the request to be processed the same day. All requests received after 12:00 p.m. will be processed the following day. Requests made on Friday will be delivered the following Monday. We do not offer Saturday delivery. FedEx transcripts cannot be delivered to PO boxes.
  • In an effort to provide records more securely and protect the privacy of our students’ records, the Office of the Registrar will send official transcripts via a secure electronic server in lieu of fax transcripts. Electronic transcript requests submitted prior to 12:00 p.m. on weekdays will be delivered electronically on the same day during normal processing periods.  

Electronic Delivery (E-mail)

  • Transcripts sent to network member institutions are considered official. Students are responsible for verifying transcripts emailed to NON-member institutions will be accepted. Forwarded electronic transcripts can NOT be authenticated by USM or Parchment.

U.S. Mail

  • Transcripts sent by US mail directly to institutions and/or businesses are sent as 'Official' transcripts.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring the receiver will accept 'Issued to Student' transcripts provided in sealed envelopes.
