Established as the Division of Commerce in 1947 to serve the needs of returning veterans, today the College of Business is one of five degree-granting colleges at Southern Miss with 80 faculty members spanning multiple campuses and educating more than 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students.

The College of Business is fully accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This organization is the premier accrediting agency for collegiate management education worldwide.

With small classes taught by full-time business professors in a friendly atmosphere, the College of Business contributes to students' personal and professional development and provides a solid foundation for an exciting career in business and related fields anywhere in the world.

On the undergraduate level, the college offers degrees in accounting, business administration, economics, fashion merchandising, finance, international business, marketing, management, management information systems and tourism management.
