Coastal USM Awards Day

Coastal USM Awards Day is an annual event held each spring at Southern Miss Gulf Park. It serves as a platform to honor outstanding achievements by students, faculty, and staff throughout the academic year. Nominations for the awards, which open in February, are facilitated through email, allowing the University community to actively participate in recognizing noteworthy contributions. The event itself is a celebratory occasion, fostering a sense of pride and unity as the Coastal USM community comes together to acknowledge and applaud the remarkable accomplishments that make the institution thrive.

Coastal USM Awards Day 2024

The Coastal USM Awards Day Ceremony is scheduled for April 23, 2024 in the Hardy Hall Ballroom.

Student, faculty, and staff award nominations have officially opened closed. Follow the links below to cast your nominations. Nominations deadlines are listed with each award category.

Award Categories and Nomination Information:

Student Excellence Awards	Three student excellence awards in the categories of Leadership, Service, and Black & Gold Coastal USM students, faculty, and staff may make nominations Nominee must be a Coastal USM Student Nominations close on March 6, 2024
Coastal Excellence Awards	Four inaugural awards in the categories of Three Pillars Award, Sustainability Star, Excellence in DEI, and Hidden Gem Coastal USM students, faculty, and staff may make nominations Nominees can be Coastal USM faculty, staff, or students Nominations close on March 6, 2024
Outstanding Student Organization Award	Recognizes the contributions made by a student organization across Coastal USM Coastal USM students, faculty, and staff may make nominations Nominee must be a registered Coastal USM Student Organization Nominations close on March 6, 2024
Students' Choice Award (Nominations have closed) Students' Choice Award Voting	Honors a faculty or staff member for their contributions to the lives of students across Coastal Operations Only Coastal USM students may make nominations Nominee must be a Coastal USM faculty or staff member Nominations close on March 1, 2024; student voting will be from March 4 - 8, 2024.
Student Employee and Graduate Assistant of the Year	Honors exemplary support from one student employee and one graduate assistant Coastal USM faculty or staff may make nominations Nominee must be a Coastal USM Student Nominations close on March 6, 2024
Outstanding Staff Award	Honors staff members who deliver quality support to their units Coastal USM faculty or staff may make nominations Nominee must be a Coastal USM staff member Nominations close on March 6 2024
