Faculty Learning Communities
Page Content
Our Faculty Learning Communities (FLC) program brings together instructors from across disciplines as a cohort to engage in a learning community around scholarly practice, teaching, and learning. FLCs will work collaboratively to investigate questions related to their teaching strategies, student learning, curriculum, or program-level initiatives. The end “deliverable” will be determined by the group, but could include production of scholarship, internal or external presentations, curricular change/design, program-level proposals or initiatives, or other outcomes that are reflective of the work of the group.
The goals of the program are to:
- Enhance teaching practices and student learning
- Promote scholarly approaches to course design, pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation
- Foster a culture of teaching excellence and reflective practice
- Build community and interdisciplinary connections
- Integrate university initiatives in meaningful and tangible ways
The Faculty Learning Community program is currently recruiting for two subject areas specifically, with hopes that each cohort will complete projects together as collaborative, interdisciplinary teams. The two topics for this Fall 2026 are Preparing Workforce Ready Students and AI in Higher Education.
FLC: Preparing Workforce Ready Students. Join this Faculty Learning Community focused on equipping students with the skills
and experiences they need for career success. Together, we will explore strategies
to intentionally design learning that connects coursework to real-world applications.
FLC: AI in Higher Education. Join this Faculty Learning Community to explore how artificial intelligence can
enhance teaching, streamline course development, and support student learning. This
FLC emphasizes real-world application, giving faculty the opportunity to experiment
with tools, share experiences, and leave with practical strategies they can immediately
implement in their courses.
Faculty from all disciplines interested in enhancing their instruction through systematic
inquiry are encouraged to apply. The program offers an outstanding opportunity to
develop scholarly expertise in teaching, becoming a community of practice, and make
significant contributions to student learning.
The Faculty Learning Communities program will begin each fall and feature regular
meetings and community of practice sessions on alternating Wednesdays from 3 - 4:30
pm. FLC members are required to come prepared and participate in each meeting.
Applications are due May 25, 2026 for the Fall FLC Cohorts.
