Application for Spring Financial Assistance

Page Content

The priority date for spring awarding is November 1st. We must have a completed spring application and an official FAFSA by this date in order to ensure you have aid before spring classes begin. You may be required to pay out of pocket if you do not meet the priority date. The 2023-2024 FAFSA can be completed online at www.studentaid.gov.

A student must be fully admitted to The University of Southern Mississippi, enrolled at least half-time, and seeking a degree from the university to receive most types of federal financial aid.

To apply, student should navigate in SOAR to their student dashboard, select the Spring Application to-do item, and then click Apply Here! The application will be available September 15th and will be reviewed starting October 15th in the order they were received.

Students who have applied for admission to Southern Miss and who need assistance in retrieving their SOAR user ID and password may contact the iTech Help Desk at 601.266.4357.

If you are enrolled on a less than half-time basis, you should notify our office if the number of hours for which you are registered changes so that we can determine if you have financial aid eligibility. If you have made a change in your admissions and/or program status, contact our office so that we can determine if your financial aid eligibility should be revised.
