Fraternity and Sorority Life Scholarship

Our members consistently earn higher GPAs than their unaffiliated counterparts. Involvement in Fraternity and Sorority Life provides students with a support system to help them reach their academic goals. Each organization holds its members accountable to a high academic standard and offers resources when classes get challenging.  In Fall 2021, the GPA of unaffiliated undergraduate students was a 2.947 and the GPA for the fraternity and sorority community was a 3.237!

Fraternity and Sorority Life chapters offer annual scholarship opportunities to their members. These scholarships are awarded to affiliated students who have met specific criteria. To apply for chapter scholarships, eligible students should complete the Golden Opportunities (GO) Scholarship and Competitive Programs Application System.

Annual scholarships offered by chapters and councils in Fraternity and Sorority Life are:

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student who is a member of the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to students who are members or pledges of the Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. This scholarship may also be awarded to students who are children of members of the Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. If there are no members or children of members of the Theta Delta Chapter, this scholarship may be awarded to students who are children of members of any chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon with more than 60 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 2.5 who has demonstrated leadership and involvement in campus affairs. The recipient must be an outstanding active member. Strong preference will be given to those residing in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity house.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student who is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Preference shall be given to a student who is participating in the performing arts.

The purpose of this fund is to recognize the outstanding student leaders and scholars of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at The University of Southern Mississippi. Young men who exemplify the qualities of scholarship, citizenship, leadership and athleticism.  The award is to be decided on by the Alumni Advisory Board of Directors for the Mississippi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to active members of the Theta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity. The scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, leadership qualities, philanthropic work, and overall commitment to the fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to provide support for the Village at The University of Southern Mississippi. Housing and Residence Life with preference to housing for the Epsilon Delta Chapter of Chi Omega. If at any time Chi Omega is no longer required to make this payment or if the spending allocation on an annual basis exceeds the annual amount required for Chi Omega's portion of the bond payment, the Chi Omega Endowment will be used to award scholarships to students who are members of the Epsilon Delta Chapter of Chi Omega.

The Kappa Delta Endowment will be used to provide scholarships for members of Kappa Delta at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The purpose of this fund is to support the Village at The University of Southern Mississippi and to provide scholarships for students who are members of the Phi Epsilon Chapter of Delta Delta Delta. The spending allocation may be used to assist with bond payments for the Department of Housing and Residence Life with preference to housing for the Phi Epsilon Chapter of Delta Delta Delta. If at any time Delta Delta Delta is no longer required to make this payment or if the spending allocation on an annual basis exceeds the annual amount required for Delta Delta Delta's portion of the bond payment, the Delta Delta Delta Endowment will be used to provide scholarships for members of the Phi Epsilon Chapter of Delta Delta Delta.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to students enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi with preference to members of Sigma Chi Fraternity who display leadership qualities.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to students with a minimum 2.65 GPA and leadership activities with preference to incoming members of the Zeta Chi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships with preference given to the active big brother and new member little brother of the Zeta Chi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta who together have the highest combined GPA from the Fall semester.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships with preference given to the Big Brother/Little Brother combination of the Zeta Chi Chapter of Delta Tau Delta that demonstrates leadership in recruitment activities, committee work, on and off campus activities and that possesses a combined average GPA of 2.55 or better from the Spring semester.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to students enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi who are initiates of the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity with preference to chapter officers who demonstrate leadership qualities and scholastic achievement.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student who is a member of the Epsilon Nu Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to students who are members or pledges of the Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity at The University of Southern Mississippi. This scholarship may also be awarded to students who are children of members of the Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. If there are no members or children of members of the Theta Delta Chapter, this scholarship may be awarded to students who are children of members of any chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to students who are members of the Theta Alpha Chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity who have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a strong work ethic, selflessness and love for family and friends.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student who is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Consideration will be given on the basis of the true virtues of an SAE "True Gentleman:" temperance, charity, kindness and humility.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to an undergraduate student who is a member of the Mu Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Consideration will be given on the basis of the mission of the fraternity: leadership, brotherhood, academic excellence and community service.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student member in good standing of the Delta Mu Chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  If there is no active chapter, the scholarship may be awarded to a Pi Kappa Alpha legacy.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to an undergraduate student in any major who is active in the Inter-Fraternity Council or an Inter-Fraternity Council member fraternity. The name of the recipient will be announced each year on Founders' Day.

The purpose of this fund is to provide a scholarship to a student who is an active member of the Epsilon Nu Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student from Harrison, Hancock or Jackson County, Mississippi, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who is a member of a fraternity or sorority in the National Panhellenic Council. Preference will be given to a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a member of the Theta Alpha Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity with a minimum 2.8 GPA. Preference will be given to a student who exemplifies outstanding service and membership while upholding the Pi Kappa Phi Student Creed.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student who is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority in a leadership position.

The purpose of this fund is to award a scholarship to a student with a 3.0 GPA or higher who is a first-year member of the College Panhellenic Council (CDC), including all members of dues-paying CPC affiliated organizations.
