Joining a fraternity or sorority is about more than letters. It’s about finding your people, discovering your passions, and growing into the leader you want to be. Fraternity and Sorority life offers students a well-rounded, co-curricular experience that supports personal growth, academic engagement, and meaningful connections. Through leadership opportunities, service, scholarship, and social experiences, students are challenged to learn, give back, and build lifelong friendships. With 25 unique chapters in our community, there’s a place for every student to belong, get involved, and make the most of their college experience.
Since the first social fraternity was chartered at Southern Miss in 1935, the Fraternity and Sorority Life community has made invaluable contributions to our campus through our four core values.
Leadership is not just a title; it is a mindset. Members of our fraternity and sorority community step forward to lead in the classroom, across campus organizations, and throughout the greater Hattiesburg community. Through these experiences, students build confidence, strengthen their voices, and develop the skills to inspire others and create positive change that extends far beyond their time at Southern Miss.
