The Southern Miss Honors College 50th anniversary celebration will take place in conjunction with the 2026 Undergraduate Symposium on Research and Creative Activity (UGS)! We want alumni returning to campus for this milestone event to have the opportunity to see our students at their best as they present their scholarly research and artistic performances.
Join us to celebrate fifty years of world-class education in south Mississippi! Morning sessions will include opportunities to connect with alums, faculty, and staff, as well as panels dedicated to the history of the Honors College, and optional afternoon sessions will include the following UGS programming: student research panels, poster sessions, and the performing arts showcase. There will also be a showing of The Prof, a film written, directed, and produced by Honors College students and starring, Dr. Wallace Kay, the first dean of the Honors College. All attendees are also invited to attend the keynote luncheon with Dr. Chris Anderson, Southern Miss Honors College alumnus and James D. Hardy Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
