|The 2020 Undergraduate Symposium on Research and Creative Activity (UGS) has been cancelled. This step was taken in response to President Bennett’s message from 3/12/2020 and follows best practices (see Centers for Disease Control directives) to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.|
The Undergraduate Symposium on Research and Creative Activity (UGS) at Southern Miss is an annual event that showcases the outstanding work being done by undergraduate students across campus. The event is proudly co-hosted by The Drapeau Center for Undergraduate Research (DCUR) and the Honors College (HC).
If you have a research project that you have conducted or an artistic work that you have created as an undergraduate student at Southern Miss, this is the opportunity to share your work with your peers! We hope to see you participate either as a presenter or as an attendee at the next UGS, which will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
Note: The 2020 Symposium has been canceled in accordance with University and CDC directives.
If you plan to attend the UGS, please use the common UGS Registration Form and choose the registration type that appropriately reflects your involvement with the UGS: presenter (incl. arts showcase participant), attendee, moderator or judge. You will not be able to join for the (free!) lunch and hear the keynote address unless you have registered.
The UGS submission portal opens October 15.
Those of you who graduate in December are eligible to present the following spring.
Students are limited to one abstract submission (poster or oral presentation as presenter or co-presenter) but may submit an abstract and an item for the Arts Showcase.
To learn about submission guidelines, visit our guide for presenters.
Please submit your abstract for an oral or poster presentation here.
Please submit your application for the Arts Showcase here.
