Pets, except for service animals and small aquarium fish, are not allowed in the residence halls.
This policy is required for the effective communication of university policy regarding pets in the residence halls.
All students of The University of Southern Mississippi community living on campus.
Major problems in sanitation, pest control for fleas and lice, allergies and common courtesy for fellow residents provide the basic rationale for the no-pet policy. Small aquarium fish are the only pets allowed in the residence halls. The aquarium fish tank size is limited to a maximum of 15 gallons. This policy includes lab or research animals as well but excludes properly registered service animals.
The Director of Student Housing Administration is responsible for the review of this policy every four years (or whenever circumstances require immediate review).
