On October 1, 2020, all faculty and staff members were provided the ability to upload
a custom profile picture to Microsoft 365. On October 8, 2020, any users that did
not have a profile picture saw their University ID picture uploaded on their behalf.
Profile pictures that were already uploaded were not changed. If preferred, users
can upload a different picture at any time.
The University will not monitor profile pictures, and it is your personal responsibility to ensure that pictures are appropriate. Please contact your supervisor if you have any questions about the appropriateness of your profile picture.
On October 8, 2020, students had their USM ID picture added to their Microsoft 365 profile, but do not have the option to modify. This change will not impact students with current privacy restrictions in place, and their pictures will be excluded from the system.
The Microsoft 365 profile picture will only be visible to internal users, i.e. USM students, faculty, staff, etc. Any email recipients or collaboration with individuals in applications like Microsoft Teams outside of USM, will not see our profile pictures.
