This summer, take a deep dive into the rich history of Hattiesburg — a city shaped by railroads, resilience, and the towering longleaf pine. At Camp Pinecone Pioneers, we’ll journey through time to uncover the people, places, and pivotal moments that made the Hub City what it is today.
Set beneath the pines, our camp isn’t about memorizing names and dates — it’s about asking big questions, connecting the past to the present, and discovering your own place in the story of Hattiesburg. Learn about your home through interactive activities, creative storytelling, and field trips around Hattiesburg.
Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your camp spirit—because this summer, we’re making history!
This camp is a day camp hosted at the Lake Thoreau Environmental Center. Check-in will be between 7:30 and 8:30 A.M. each day, and checkout will occur between 4:45 and 5:30 P.M.
