Tim Isbell, a longtime photojournalist for The Sun Herald in Biloxi, was part of that newspaper’s team that won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Community Service for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina.  He has served as photographer, chief photographer and photo editor at The Sun Herald and also worked for the Brookhaven Daily Leader, The Tuscaloosa News and The Natchez Democrat.  Mr. Isbell’s works, ranging from his study of Vietnamese culture to a documentation of nature’s beauty on the Pascagoula River, have won numerous awards and have been featured in many museum shows.  In 1995, he began a project that continues today, combining his photography with his lifelong interest in the Civil War.  The Sentinels of Stone project has produced three published books, featuring dramatic images from the battlefields at Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Shiloh, and Corinth.  He plans to give the “Sentinels” treatment to all major battlefields of the Civil War.  He was inducted into the MCJ Hall of Fame in October 2007.
