The Student Media Center is a collection of student-run organizations on the Hattiesburg campus of Southern Miss that provides students with unique opportunities to gain experience in the mass media industry while working toward their degree. From how a radio news show is produced to how a newspaper is operated, students collaborate to create work used throughout the campus and the Hattiesburg community. Radio, TV and Film...that is what The Crew is all about. The Crew is a student-run
organization that focuses on creating and producing various types of media for both
the eyes and ears! By joining The Crew, you gain hands-on experience while learning
what it takes to carry a project from preproduction to its final phase in post-production.

Interested in recording, live sound, mix to picture and technology? Golden Eagle Sound and Production is a student-run, faculty advised organization dedicated to sound and recording arts. From producing local live shows to running professional-quality recording sessions, GESP gives student opportunities to expand upon their classroom experiences through practical, real-world experience. Services are available to the public for those wishing to record music, reinforce a live show, produce a spot, or to enhance a video project while providing students an opportunity to enhance their skills and portfolio. The Student Printz is the student-run newspaper at the University of Southern Mississippi.
It is published two days a week (Monday and Thursday) and supplies news to its affiliate
website, www.studentprintz.com. The Student Printz hires journalists to write, photograph,
and video news happening on the Hattiesburg campus. The Printz also hires editors,
page designers, sales representatives, circulation associates and web savvy students

South City Records is an independent, student-run record label that signs and records
local, southern talent. SCR prepares students for all aspects of the entertainment
industry by providing the tools and hands-on experience necessary to achieve great

WUSM is the Pine Belt’s only community radio station. The station provides unique
hands-on knowledge to students who gain great experience within the radio industry.
WUSM 88.5 has numerous talent opportunities and two live shows: “Southern Miss Today”
and “Wise Guys.” “Southern Miss Today” is a live public affairs and news broadcast
that airs Monday through Thursday at noon, and “Wise Guys” is a live sports show that
airs every Friday at noon. Both shows are completely student ran and award-winning
