Get ready for Oct. 16-Oct. 18!

We are planning a great slate of activities for this year's Stratcom Week. Below are the details for a video contest and the days and times for events. New T-shirts are in the works, but you must attend at least one of the events to get one! Everyone is welcome to the open events. If you are interested in Lunch with the Pros, please see your faculty member.

Video contest: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded. We are looking for short videos showing only what our USM students would know or experience. In other words, only USM students would know... Videos can range from a POV, skit, or any other templates you desire to use. Click here for an example. The goal of this video competition is to spark creativity, have fun and follow the prompt. Your video needs to be emailed to soc@usm.edu by Monday, Oct. 9. A judging panel will select the top five videos and post them to the School of Media and Communication Instagram (@somcatusm) on Oct. 16. Two prizes will be awarded. One video will be selected by school-selected judges. Another, people's choice award, will be given for the video finalists that receive the most likes. The video with the most likes wins, and the winner will be announced Friday, Oct. 20. We ask that you refrain from using profanity or nudity within your video. Have fun and be creative!

Oct. 2 - Mark your calendars because something exciting is coming your way! We're thrilled to announce that we'll be hosting an Instagram GIVEAWAY on Oct. 2! Get ready to win some fantastic prizes and join in on the fun. Stay tuned for more details and don't miss your chance to participate! Follow us @somcatusm on Instagram to make sure you're the first to know when the giveaway officially launches.

Oct. 16 - Deadline extended for video submission. 

Oct. 16 - SM2 Open House. 6 p.m., first floor of College Hall. (Give-away winners announced). 

Oct. 17 - Class speakers; lunch with students; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. portfolio and resume review.

 Oct. 18 - 2:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m. Alumni Panel - Trends in Stratcom; 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. mixer on the porch.
